Identify what the light must illuminate
Separate ambient lighting, merchandise accents, shelving and integrated display details. Share mounting heights, positions, merchandise references and the intended visual effect with the lighting designer. Ask which photometric files or product data the designer needs before selecting models.
A beam that works for a single display object may not serve a wall bay or a lower shelf. Keep the required optics and adjustment range linked to the layout. Product sourcing supplies a comparison; the layout and final lighting design still need the responsible project professional.
Review colour appearance and colour rendering separately
The U.S. Department of Energy distinguishes the colour appearance of the light, often summarized as correlated colour temperature (CCT), from how it renders the colours of objects. CRI is one rendering metric and does not describe every aspect of colour quality. Define the required evidence with the lighting designer rather than selecting a universal number for every store.
Review a sample with representative merchandise, adjacent finishes and the intended control setting. A photograph or a label such as “warm white” is not a substitute for the agreed product specification and review conditions. Record which model, optic and driver the sample represents.
Check the complete system in the enquiry
| Item | Information to confirm |
|---|---|
| Electrical supply | Destination voltage, frequency and the specified driver. |
| Mounting | Exact track system, cut-out or fixing arrangement, with interface dimensions. |
| Optics | Beam, output data, adjustment and any requested photometric files. |
| Controls | Dimming or control protocol and verified compatibility of the proposed combination. |
| Documentation | Exact model identifiers and project-required destination documentation. |
| Maintenance | Access, replaceable components, spare parts and packing identification. |
Do not transfer evidence between similar-looking models
A track head that fits visually may not share the required electrical interface. Likewise, a test report or certification for a related model does not automatically cover the proposed unit. Ask for identifiers and supporting documents that match the order. Local electrical and compliance review belongs with qualified project parties.
Hyaline can coordinate lighting options, supplier questions, samples and agreed order checks after the brief is defined. Send the lighting schedule alongside the fixture and material list so visible finishes, cable routes and delivery identification can be reviewed together.
Buyer questions
Is wattage enough to compare two track lights?
No. Compare optics, output, colour information, control, physical interface and the specified driver as well as power consumption.
Can a visual pre-shipment check confirm electrical certification?
No. Visible checks and agreed functional observations are distinct from formal testing or certification. Request applicable model-linked documentation and qualified review where required.
